  1. Hunduism is the main RELIGION of INDIA,
  2. where it started some 4,000 years ago.
  3. There are over 805 million Hindus worldwide.

  5. Hindus worship many gods, which they believe
  6. to be related to each other.
  7. Many of these gods have animal features
  8. such as Ganesha, the elephant headed god and
  9. Hanuman the monkey headed god.

  11. The oldest Hindu scriptures are the Vedas
  12. which is a collection of hymns and which
  13. used to be chanted during rituals where
  14. sacrifices were made.

  16. The Hindus have seven sacred cities in India 
  17. and many pilgramage spots where temples 
  18. have been built.
  19.  
  20. Hindus do not normally congregate to pray
  21. like Christians, but stop daily at 
  22. several shrines. They also visit temples
  23. where priests attend a god which they will
  24. wake, bathe and feed. Worshipers give gifts
  25. to the god and receive food which the god
  26. has touched. Hindus also worship every day 
  27. at home where they carry out many different
  28. rites.
